  1. Limerick Mania is a well-known, yet rarely diagnosed condition. Not actually seen in the Irish City of that name, it more usually affects those of a literary bent, and on occasion, can cause Terminal Limerickitis. The sufferer is unable to stop composing Limericks, and can be consumed with creative fervour. (British Medical Journal, August 1901).

  2. Thank you, Dr. Pete. I knew there was something wrong with me! And fervor-more, it appears that the condition is so rare that no research has been funded to find an effective cure! There may be ways to prevent the affliction, however. Perhaps a mind-numbing sedative that puts one’s creative juices to rest. Or a daily dose of retroactive illiteracy.
