What’s in a name?
Said Mrs. Green to Redding, “M’lad,
D’you know what names y’nearly had?
Your dad favored Soylent
Gave Evert his consent
And Wolfgang, he felt, wasn’t bad.”

Soylent Green. Get it David, good film (in those days).
Not only limericks, but filmic references too!

This limerick stems from an actual suggestion I made many years ago. I have relatives by the last name of Green. When they were expecting their first child (a boy), they asked around for name suggestions. I said, “Why not call him Wolfgang?” But, for some reason, they dismissed Wolf Gangrene as somehow inappropriate. As for the film, I don’t own it on DVD, but I saw it at the movie theater back in 1973, and later on TV.
