    • You’re always well versed in Americanese, Pete. I knew you’d get it. For anyone else reading comments on this limerick who might be puzzled: “to drive with a lead foot” (one’s foot weighs heavily on the accelerator) means that a person has a habit of driving too fast. Ethyl may think it’s logical to use her lead foot to pump leaded gas, but, obviously, logic here does not correspond to common sense!
