Joint efforts and dashed hopes…
Arthritic or not, they were all of a mind
To enter the “Charity Race for the Blind”
They slipped on their hospital mules
And shuffled their feet, but McEwell’s
Stiff joints made the twenty-mule team fall behind…

As expected, the mules made an appearance eventually! Good one David,
Best wishes from England. Pete.

I wanted to address the slippers, but at the same time, with the previous limerick in mind, reference the famous twenty-mule team that was “attached to large wagons that ferried borax out of Death Valley from 1883 to 1889.” (Wikipedia) Based on photos I’ve seen, the mules wore blinders. Once again, Pete, your blog has inspired a limerick!
