    • That is certainly one of the best scenes in the film. Jerome seems to be the victim of a secular society that nonetheless popularizes werewolves, vampires, and wizards. You may recall Ch. 15 (“The Pope Performs Miracles”) in my book where “Merle” (Sean Davoitzler), the magic shop owner, engages Niccolò (the pope) in a match: miracle vs. magic. The satirical purpose of that chapter was rather obvious. With respect to Jerome, he is clearly in Merle’s camp, stupidly mistaking the evil machinations of the devil for the “good” magic of an Italian showman. By the way, Jerome may return in a future limerick to once again showcase his ignorance and inability to pay attention to detail.
