Out with the dogs: Pragmatic Pete meets Cocky Brown. A double limerick…*
Pete felt the first raindrop, looked up, and said, “Golly!
I think I had better spring open my brolly.
My dog’s in the river. I’ll call him. Hey, Ollie!
You’ll wear yourself out chasing ducks. It’s pure folly!
You dog paddle well, but in vain.
And so you have nothing to gain.
I really do hate to complain.
But, well, it is starting to rain…”
Just then Hewett Brown came along with his collie.

And I got the Titanic connection, with the Unsinkable Molly Brown too.
Just re-blogged this!

I was hoping for nothing more than a chuckle, Pete, so when I saw you’d re-blogged it, I was shocked in the most pleasant of ways! With respect to the Titanic connection, I had to think of a first name for Mr. Brown, so I went with Hewett because it sounded a bit snobbish, and also because the name contained the word “wet” which I felt indicated this cocky dog owner had no need for an umbrella.

It was perceptive and funny too David. One of your best perhaps? (I know, I’m biased…)
Best wishes, Pete.

A brilliant limerick by David from Nevada. He has captured the essence of my posts generally, and the recent one about Ollie in the rain perfectly. Any fans of limericks will find much to enjoy, over at his blog.
