Don’t be a louse! Tip the boy 17,000 kips…
An Irishman, visiting Laos, said, “Laddie!
I’m hungry for rice cakes, so go fetch your daddy!”
The young boy replied,
“You want them pan-fried?
And served with rice wine? You can drink to St. Paddy!”

So much, in one limerick. St Patrick’s Day, Laos, and an Irishman too. And Kips are their currency, I didn’t know that !
Best wishes, Pete.

Mind you, 17,000 Kips is less than £2. Probably a good tip in Laos though.

Pete, I actually looked up the exchange rate, and thought it was a decent tip for a young boy in Laos. I can assure you that I was also unfamiliar with Lao kips until I wrote the limerick. Of course, the limerick takes place in Southeast Asia, where a rice “paddy” is not at all uncommon!
