A HOOK IN THE EYE
Behind the wheel of a classic Pontiac
Hot rod and reel, Mississippi maniac
Beneath a mackerel sky
Got a hook in the eye
Beware the lures of the man from Frontenac
He’s got brochures and a fishing almanac
Knows how to plan a fish fry
Got a hook in the eye
Be fishing soon with his angle of attack
The shuttered moon flees a sky that fades to black
But whether rainy or dry
Got a hook in the eye
Begins to fish way beyond the beaten track
Then makes a wish that the dawn will never crack
Yeah, he’s a crazy old guy
Got a hook in the eye

David, that was a real feast of rhyming skill indeed. It looks simple, but I know for sure that a lot of hard work and talent went into finding both the ending and inner rhymes.
Well done, my friend. I look forward to hearing it as a complete song.
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, I appreciate the promotion. I will be publishing more lyrics in a month or so (after our FB page goes live, which will not happen until the remaining songs have been declared with SACEM). The new lyrics are to be marketed, so there won’t be a recording to which I can link. I’ll put the new lyrics here on my blog and on my personal FB page, and Chris will decide whether to link to my FB page or also include the lyrics on our joint page. Again, thanks for sharing!

I like the sound of this and as Pete says there are some masterful rymes in there and some great imagery as well.
