A world apart. A four-part limerick…
Doug Pruitt, a student, complained, “I miss Dinah!
She’s spending another semester in China.”
He picked up his shovel.
“I swear that my love’ll
Go nowhere by staying in North Carolina.”
I tried really hard to discourage Doug Pruitt.
“The earth is too big, Doug! You’ll never dig through it!”
But Doug began digging,
And zagging and zigging,
He worked his way down. He was sure he could do it.
So blinded by love that he lost his direction,
Doug Pruitt just shrugged, “I don’t aim for perfection!”
A left turn, a right turn…
You’d think that it might earn
Much more than a shrug and a slight course correction!
And now while he’s digging his hole I am sitting
Or sleeping above him (the weather permitting).
I can’t help but wonder
How far he’s dug under.
There’s no chance in hell that Doug Pruitt is quitting!

Complex and entertaining, David. As always.
Best wishes, Pete.
