I’ve had the 20 Lira Mussolini coin for a long time (dated: MCMXLIII, or 1943). The name Mussolini made me think of “muscle.” I keep it in a plastic coin case, but took it out carefully with a napkin in order to slip it inside the decrepit wallet for the photo.

Apparently, this is a “fantasy coin,” perhaps minted in 1970. I visited Italy a couple of times in the 1970’s, and may have picked it up then. According to an internet source, Mussolini never actually appeared on a circulated coin. Nevertheless, it’s an interesting “medal”—and it’s perfectly suitable for the message on my blog.
