Here is a detail of the program. You can also use your computer to zoom in on the full image of the program that I’ve provided in the post below. The film is actually entitled Jacquot de Nantes. It was directed by Agnès Varda, the widow of famous French film director Jacques Demy (Les Parapluies de Cherbourg). The film is a tribute to her husband, “Jacquot.” Agnès Varda will celebrate her 90th birthday on May 30, 2018. It was a great honor to meet and chat with her back in 1994.
I introduced myself to director Agnès Varda at the Salon du Livre in Paris in 1994. I presented her with this program, and we discussed it for about half an hour. I’d pitched the idea of a GATT discussion and film premiere to the Alliance française de Kansas City and the Film Society of Greater Kansas City, and they’d set the gears in motion. I was the guest of honor. My name is mentioned a couple of times in the program.
Usually one has to die to appear in the newspaper. In my case, that was unnecessary!
